Default TSP Headers verses Pacesetter

Just bought a 02 Z28. Would I see any HP gains with the 1 7/8 TSP headers over a 1 3/4 like the Pacesetter? How is the fitment with the TSP? I've seen companies put out aftermarket products and have terrible fitment from time to time. I just want to be sure I get myself into something good the first time. Also, is anyone running the Texas Speed UD pulley kit? If so, are they worth the $200?? Thanks

Bruce

The pacesetters are more for a stock cube engine. The TSP primaries are more designed for 7k+ revving or stroker applications, so depending on your plans for the car, either are fine.

The best are probably ARH. Kooks are great too. If you can't afford stainless, I have seen very good results from the edelbrock stepped headers.

The TSP headers are proven to provide more power over 3k rpms. Try a search there was a thread about the results a few months ago about it.

I have Pacestter ceramic coated headers on my car, and I really like them. The Pacesetter ORY isn't designed so well. It taps the underside of the car at certain RPM's. I little time at the local exhaust shop and a $20 and they can make it quiet again. In all, a great buy. Check out Marylandspeed.com and look at their kits. Comes with O2 extensions, shipped and all for less then $600. Hope that helps.

Depends what your plans are for the car. If you are thinking bolt-on mods only or maybe heads cam, the Pacesetter headers will do just fine for you. If you are chasing every last rear wheel with a mild to aggressive heads/cam or stroker motor or have plans to down the road, I would go ahead and get the bigger primary headers. They will make the same power as most of your big named headers. Obviously if you are looking for stainless these aren't the way to go. However, you are looking for a good alternative that will still do everything you want without breaking the bank, these are the headers to get. Fitment is good. The headers tuck up nicely providing plenty of ground clearance. We have both brand headers and both Catted and Off-Road Y-pipes as well as True Duals that will work with either header. We have all of them on the shelf. Let us know if you need a set!

Glad to hear that worked great for you. Sounds like you made out pretty well after selling the Pacesetters!

pacesetters are a great buy and very popular on this site!! If you have not purchased a set of headers yet, go ahead and get the TSP 1 7/8.. its almost around the same price, and having 1 7/8 headers will help if you decide to go bigger cubes later on..

On stock cubes the pacesetters are fine, you wont see much if any w/ the bigger header.

One is stainless, one is Ceramic Coated...

If you have the money go with the Stainless...

ok, however i whant to know the difference in performance, also going from 1 3/4 to 1 7/8 make a big difference in horse power.

Not a huge difference in performance but there is some there. We engine dyno tested 1 3/4" to 1 7/8" headers and on a factory LS1 motor w/ a FAST intake. It picked up from 3000 RPM on w/ a peak of 7 HP w/ the larger primary. You have to think this would increase on a heads/cam car or stroker setup. Hope that helps!

This is a nine year old thread, Brian. Chances are BruceBuffer isn't still waiting for a response.
