Default Blackout "dimples"

How can you keep from getting these? Can you use a lower wattage bulb to keep the lenses from melting? If so, what wattage? My fiancee' had blackouts and got "dimples" from them. I'd like to have blackouts but I don't want my lenses messed up. Ideas?

You are kinda out of luck, it you go with lower wattage bulbs the lights will be even dimmer behind the blackout and get very hard to see. And if the light is even harder to see you increase your cahnce of getting rear ended, so whats worse, dimpled lights or a wrecked car?

My guess would be that they don't even get them from the bulb itself but probably from sitting in the sun. Cuz the black absorbs heat, ya know?

I'm wanting to put the '93-'96 taillights in my car because I like the look of them better than the ones in my '99. Will those taillights melt with blackouts also or are they more resistant to the heat?

Don't use blackouts, that solves the problem, and no one will give you **** for being a "Ricer"

And since when was using Blackouts a "Ricer" thing??? Jeez, just because you don't like the look of something doesn't mean you get to call it "Rice" I HATE THAT STUPID TERM!!! Almost and bad as "NAWS" aka N.O.S.

Most people will probably agree that they are anything from "RICE". ESPECIALLY on a black car....

Just an FYI...but my brother recently removed his GTS blackouts on his 99 SS because he is selling the car. To his surprise when he removed them he noticed that his factory taillights were both warped or dimpled. He had them on his car for about a year and we do live in Texas...so the heat may be a factor.

Been there and yes it sucks those tail lights aren't cheap. If I had known that was going to happen I would have bought leds. The replacment bulb has like 12 leds. Worth the $50 dollors.
