Default CURB WEIGHT OF A 01Z06 2880lbs!?!?!

Hi. A good friend on mine had a 01 Z06.... he said it weighed 2880 from the factory... like... nothing taken out... nothing changed. BONE STOCK weighed 2880.... I dunno if he had some kind of experimental aluminum magnesium frame... or something like that... but he said he tripped out and took it to 3 different scales and it was +/- 40 lbs on all 3 scales...

Reason i ask... Is im about to finally get a career rolling... and im looking to upgrade into a C5z06 *atleast* and if this was just some fluke.. then im going to obviously aim at newer years...

Any help to this?

Doubtful. My 02Z was 3130 raceweight with my dragpack. I weigh 130lbs. So 3000lbs right on. That is with longtubes and a lightweight battery also. Less then a 1/4 tank of gas.

Sorry, but he's wrong. That may be the dry weight, but even then I'd doubt it.

I weighed my 02 Z and it was 3080 with HREs and a 1/2 tank of gas.

The 01 Z with 1/2 tank should weight about the same if not a little more. The changes made to the 02 over the 01 that effected the weight of the car were slightly lighter wheels and the addition of the HUD. I can't imagine the 01 weighing less than 3000Lbs straight from the factory. I'm sure GM would have made a big deal about that. LOL

That doesn't sound right if he's stock. Mine weighed in at 3040 without me in it and maybe 1/8th tank of gas when it was stock.

Your friend is mistaken or has a faulty scale.
