Default How many have broken their Truetrac (9" / A4 specific)

I'm thinking of buying a midwest 9" with a truetrac for my daily driver but don't want to drop $3,000 on something that is going to break.

I see so many tru-trac threads of cracked housings or shattered spider gears but mostly this is from 5-6k clutch dumps yet so many people are still ordering them. I don't know how eaton is getting away with it and the vendors try to keep it under wraps. How many people with A4s and a 9" have broken their tru-trac. Please state 60' times or dyno numbers also. Thanks alot.

I personally own two rears with a tru trac. One is a MWC9". I cut 1.5 60's in both cars and have NEVER had a problem with them. I dont use a trans brake. I hear failures come from 5k+ manual dumps. I have a 4k yank and footbrake. Hope this helps with your specific question....

I made a thread asking this last fall, 2-3 pages of feedback.

nothing was wrong with mine, just acting unpredicable. Really happy with the spool, car DRIVES strait, and went faster.

Thanks getusomWS6, answer really helped. studderin...sorry I missed your past thread before posting this new one, I'll search for it now.

I guess I'll take a shot with the trutrac and hopefully it will hold. I wish wavetrac would sell their diffs without warantee for half the price, I feel half the $1000 cost is just warantee related.

Just read through your thread, seems a lot of M6 people are saying to not even consider buying a trutrac, then you scroll down a little more and they are all doing giant wheelies in their sig...

If I had another DD, I would just get a spool and save 20lbs.

I saw too many failures when I was at Exotic Performance Plus, so I took all the Truetrac's off the website. The failures started happening after Eaton took over the Truetrac, the Truetrac use to be a very dependable unit for under 600 rwhp. Bob
