Default For you audio guys... question???

What is the largest speaker I can fit in the factory slot behind the rear quarter panels of the convertible. I am sure it is 6 1/2 now but I want to upgrade them.

Just watch your mounting depth, stock is 1.5 inches. I found out the hard way about that. You are correct 6.5 inch is stock. It would be difficult to go bigger because of the way the top folds down.

I managed to squeeze a cheap pair of Dual 6.5" in, but had to mount them to the surface of the interior panel instead of the inside of the quarter panel, as the stock ones are. Also, be really careful with the screws. If they are too long, they will catch on the top when raising/lowering. The 6.5" Pioneers i have were too deep to fit, so you just have to be careful and double check measurements

Sorry, I didn't get any install pics, and I have since sold the car, but the speakers were Dual TS series 6.5"... they were super cheap at Walmart, and the lights were pretty cool

Have you thought about going with components?
