SAR is the closest decent drag track. There's Harris Hill for road racing in san marcos.

Actually, Temple Academy Dragway is the closest to Austin. It cost like 20 bucks to come out and race all night every friday night.

j/k Temple is ok, only went there once. SAR is actually pretty good and if you're south ATX it's not too far (may be the same distance as temple).

Never was. Often the Sunday bracket program is 1/8, but it's a full quarter mile track and most events are 1/4.

It went back to the 1/4 about a yr and half ago. When the new owners changed it to an 1/8 mile track they lost alot of business. So they made it a 1/4mile again.

They must have been running it 1/8 mile for a relatively short time. Physically the track is 1/4, but when running a full 1/4 the shut down area is short for single digit cars.

I'm jealous. It takes well over an hour from my casa.

It's a nice enough facility. Last couple times I have been there (January and March) the track prep wasn't up to the old standards. Back when Tommy was the starter he seemed to make sure they did a good job... since he left I think it's gotten spotty unless there is a big event.

Track prep is always kinda iffy. I cant do better than 1.60 at SAR. Anywhere else is mid 1.50s. I even went 1.53 on the Laredo track when it was open a few years ago. Oh well...guess I need to find more power!
