Default firehawk- the definition of neglect...

just picked up this 2002 firehawk that needs serious help. The last owner had it from 2004 to present and it looks like the car was treated like a ford escort!

Here are pics:

http://www.cardomain.com/ride/3852929/1

I will be cleaning it up over the next few weeks and painting it. Good thing is that it runs really strong. Hopefully it will look like a differnet car in the next few weeks.

a few questions-

How can I tell if this car has the 345 HP induction set up on it?

what are the hooks for in the hatch area? never seen these before but they look factory.

It should say on the door SLP sticker if it had the 345 HP package. Plus it should have the "blackwing" air lid.

The hooks in the hatch area are for child seats to secure them in.

Thanks- after thinking about it I figured the hooks were for car seats.

It has the blackwing airlid so I guess it is a 345 car. There is no way this guy put that on the car

Another question- should I put a T/A spoiler on it? I always thought about it on my 95 Firehawk but it still has the formula hatch.

Also considered painting the wheels black since they need to be painted anyway.

Thanks for the replies.

Wrong...all 2002 Hawks had the 345HP package standard so it wasnt on the door sticker.

Not so! 2002 Firehawks with a SLP build date after Oct 1 had the Blackwing.

Looks like clear coat broke down on the hood. the paint is beyond saving- feels like 400 grit sandpaper.

Save the hood, repair it.
Check the passenger door tag for SLP second sticker options.

What I said is SO, the 345HP "option" was not listed on the 3rd sticker because it wasnt an option. And infact if you had bought an early build date car you could get the Blackwing lid free from SLP because it was supposed to be included.

I think those are over the spots under the hood that are not double walled...meaning thost spots are exposed directly to the engine heat where as the other areas of the hood are sandwiched and protected.

If you believe or think SLP gave Blackwing air lids to customers of early production 2002 Firehawks you are in " LA LA Land!" The 2002 Firehawk base price was $3, 999.00 when the Blackwing was avaible there was a price increase to $4,299.00.
I have no idear where you are getting your information from.

The black wheels will make it look worse than it does now.

Got the headlights fixed, knock sensors and bad o2 sensors replaced this weekend and all vitals look good. ordered a set of brakes from ws6 store so by next weekend the car should be roadworthy.

to top it all off on the interior there are spots on the front seats and it appears to be paint- gonna run it by the shop that just did the seats in my 25th anniv and see if there is any way to clean it.

forgot how much fun a 6 speed F body is!

What's with the water-stained carpet in the hatch? Previous owner leave it out in the rain w/ the hatch up, or was this car flooded?

Good luck, looks like you have your work cut out for you.

Well does your 02 have the lid listed on the 3rd sticker? Neither of my 02s did and I have never heard of one having listed. All the sales info on the 02 lists it as standard and to honor the advertised HP ratings for the 02s they offered the set up to all early production 02s back in 02. Do a little research.

This is the last enlightment I am going to give you about 2002 Firehawks & the Blackwing airlids. You might want to contact David Hamburger since he has all the information... DH might inform you how many were built prior to avaiblility of the Blackwing airlid.

Interim 2002 Introduction: SLP's High Flow Induction System adds 10 horsepower for 345 total hp and 350 ft./lbs. of torque

On approximately 09/01/01, Firehawk's RPO WU6 price will increase to $ 4,299.00, reflecting
the addition of SLP's new High Flow Induction System on all Firehawk models. The system will
boost powertrain performance to 345 horsepower versus the 335 hp standard on all Firehawks
built prior to 09/01/01.

For customers who receive their 2002 Firehawk prior to the 09/01/01 introduction of the
new components and are interested in the System, send your Name, Address and your
Firehawk GM order number, as well as your Email address to tmuller@slpeng.com.
We will contact you regarding the availability and pricing for ordering the new Induction System.
