Default QA1 "R" series users step inside.....

I have a 6-speed SS camaro. I just removed my 12 way adjustable standard qa1's up front and installed the "R" series drag shock. I assumed that since the car launched decent with the normal 12 way shock set at 3 i'd set the "R" series at 3. at this setting the rebound seems totally differnt than my old shocks. is 3 clicks on an R series totally differnt valving than 3 clicks on the standard 12way? I took it for a drive and if you downshift or go WOT the front used to jump up and raise the front of the car alot, now it seems to stay level like the rebound is set on 10. the ride height of the car came out 1-1/2 inches higher than it used to be. I used to have the ride height at 26 measuring thru the center of the wheel to the fender lip. now its around 27-1/2. I have to re-adjust this. would that have some affect on it? Or do i need to set them on only 1 click? or even 0 if thats even safe to have it fully adjusted negative. any input is appreciated.

I just installed mine this weekend. I have not experienced what you have going on there. I set mine to 5 for the street and they behave very well.

My understanding is the compression is always fixed and what you are adjusting is the rebound. What spring is in there?

ya the compression is fixed very stiff. the rebound is what the adjusting **** controls. I have the 275 drag springs.

PM JL ws6 as he is well versed in these shocks. Actually I bought his R series as he went up to a DA AFCO (slick piece BTW), he should have access to the PM box.

I ran mine for the first time this Sat. Settings were #1 up front and #5 in back.
Launched at 1500 left front came up real nice and planted the right rear tire real well.
Street setting is 3/5.

I'm going to lower the front down to 26" from the ground to the fender and set the fronts at 1 and leave my rears set at 6 today. I'll know if there's any improvement in a few hours.

well the front is is set at 26" for ride height on the drivers side but the passenger side is 1/2" lower for some reason. i cant figure it out. the spring is sitting correctly in the strut mount on the top. measuring from the first threads on the shock up to the bottom nut it is dead on within 1/16" on both sides. Drove the car for about a mile and came home and measured and its still 1/2" lower on the passenger side. checked both shock settings. both at 1. the car still has no weight transfer. I'm ready to say **** it and sell these and buy some strange double adjustables. this QA1 **** is garbage.
