Question AC Compressor FAIL! Now what?

So my AC compressor failed yesterday and I am wanting to replace it. I have never worked on AC before, so bare with me. I am wondering what all I have to do with the system when replacing my compressor?

Is there a write up somewhere? Can you give me step by step instructions? If not, can you lead me in the right direction?

I appreciate all of your help in advance!! I really don't want to fork over $1000 to the stealership...

Unfortunately, you're going to have to pay someone something or drop a pot of money on tooling. When a compressor fails it usually manages to pump **** throughout the system that has to be flushed out before you put the new compressor on. If you don't do this, you'll be buying another new compressor VERY shortly.

In a nutshell:
1. Remove the refrigerant, either blow it to atmosphere or have it recovered by someone with a recovery system.
2. Remove old compressor.
3. Remove orifice tube.
4. Flush system.
5. Install new compressor and new orifice tube.
6. Evacuate system.
7. Recharge system and leak check.

Every option pretty much has been covered so far. . . . There are no true easy ways to a working AC.
