Default Shifting Question.. 4L60E

Shifting Question..

I have 2000 WS6 with a shift kit ( Sorry don’t know what brand). I’ve had this car for about 10 years but I had the tranny rebuilt about 4 years ago. I have always had this problem but just dealt with it.
If I put the car in 1st and just haul *** if I go to close to red line and shift it will not shift just bounce off the rev limiter and doesn’t shift. But If I just drive normal and shift between 2500 it shifts fine.

Any help would be appreciated .

Sounds like you have a governor problem. You should have taken it back to the shop the overhauled it the 1st time you noticed, too late now.

Is this something that can be corrected by tunning or no?

No, you'll have to get the tranny looked at.

May have to have your throttle position looked at. A auto trani uses throttle position and output speed to determine shift points. There is more to it but those are the 2 basic signals used.

I have a similar issue. I seemed to notice it after the stall converter was installed. So far, I've found that temerature is an issue. When it's warm, no problem, but when it's not fully warmed up it's a problem. Another thing I've noticed is that is seems to happen more when it's at partial throttle, say 75% as opposed to 100% WOT.

I'm told that the RPM guage is not very accurate, so you could be seeing 6000 and the engine be at 6300.

Why are you putting the car in first?
