Default Looking into buying a Camcorder

Well wasnt sure to post this here or on my fellow texas section
but any one have some comments on some nice
camcorders out there? looking to record some of my local drag racing
and cars and etc...
I dont know much about this things besides how to download the videos
and record... lol
so i think the camcorders with built in memory are bette?
i would assume the writing time would be faster and better
than a SD or other flash memory.
Also was thinking of getting a HD camcorder since im in the market of getting
one,
people tell me to stay away from sony but sony seems to have some nice stuff out there... just came back from bestbuy confused because i didnt understand a god dam thing on those description tags
any out there willing to help a fellow tech member out?

I have looked into the go pro hd camera and its great
but i also want a camera i can take out and hold in my hand
like something i can take to the local car meets
and walk around with any suggestions?

I have a regular sony video camera works great, has 64x zoom and is still clear, last years model type ran me about 350 otd with another 32 gig card and camcorders are outdated.

You should really decide on what your $$$ limit is. I have seen some decent HD cameras run about 500-650 after getting some decent memory to back it up.

camcorders and video cameras seem to be the same to me
and price range dont really matter since it will be a gift

I've got a cheap insignia that I got off ebay for $40 thats does OK. But I plan on upgrading to a Samsung SC-MX20, from what I've read they're about the best "bang for your buck" camera. They go for around $100-$150 on ebay. They're suppose to be real easy to use and to transer movie to youtube.

I shot this with my cheap insignia video camera.

i have a gopro HD and its cool. audio blows ***. If the OP is looking for a all around camcorder, keep looking. If you just want something to record you while you driving etc, then ya the GoPro is good.

I'm not sure about hard drive camcorders to film racing vids from inside the car.

I have a JVC Everio 20 GB HDD camcorder and one of my buddies on LS1GTO.com made me a platform for the camcorder where it was anchored at the passengers side head rest supports. The problem is that when I launched, the launch was so hard that the hard drive skipped and the video was ruined. It's no different from hitting a laptop and expecting the hard drive to work properly. Outside of the car the camcorder is great, but useless under hard launches and hard driving.

I think they retail at like 2-3K or something outrageous like that! She said she won a draw for presents and NOBODY wanted them. She was like what ever and got them... Next thing you know she checks on the internet and was blown away. Lol. I wish I got that lucky.. Sucks for the poor guy who wanted the $25 dollar gift cards..

On the link posted, they say a retail price of $3000!!! So I think $900 is a steal!
