New Single Turbo GT55 C6Z06 Build underway
My car has been a testing ground of technology for some time now... it was one of the first C6 Z's in the country to have an Auto swap, one of the early Twin Turbo cars, and one of the first to go 9's, one of only 3 to go 8's and one of the fastest MPH C6 Z's on the planet.
But that just wasn't enough...
Well, the details are ironed out, the calculations have been made, and parts have been shipped. All that is left is assembly, testing, and record breaking excitement!
So here is what is going in now.
Brand spanking new LSX block with Callies Magnum crank (The dragon slayer wasn't rated hight enough) Billit I beam rods, and a fresh set of Diamond custom pistons. We settled on a 9.2:1 427 and have converted to a race ready dry sump system!
This year IPSMotorsports.net will be ditching the twins and in place will custom designing a Single kit around one big GT55 ball bearing 91MM Turbo. Fueled by 220lb injectors through the fast LSX-R intake and ETP Heads. We decided it was time to stop playing around and get some real 60' so we are ditching the stock rear spindles and put in new custom spindle kit from ECS that will allow a 15" wheel and yes, you guessed it, some big old meatty SLICKS!
The 4L80 from RPM Transmissions held up well last year (we never broke it), but with the new turbo (and potentially even bigger turbo later in the season) we thought we needed something a bit more stout, so we contacted our friends over at RPM and they are putting together one of the first ever Turbo 400 Race conversion for a C6Z06. This tranny will be complete with a pro tree trans break and a monster stall so we can launch in boost.
Some of you may already know that the stock computer has limited us to 21lbs of boost for some time now... so we decided to ditch it! (or at least piggy back in) a AEM stand alone system so we can push just a bit more boost through that big A$$ single.
Assembly is underway, so if you stop by the thread take a look as we keep updates underway.

Should be badass.
Theres a local C6 Z06 that comes out on the street and races bikes,..never knew it but, was at a friends shop,..they mentioned they had a single turbo C6 Z06 there,..I didn't believe them until they opened the hood,...and there it was. It was mounted like the OFI F-body kits,... looked pretty badass.... and worked well too.
How are you guys planning on mounting the big frame?

The guys at the shop say that have it all figured out... I don't know where they plan on putting that intercooler and turbo, but they said right up front. I guess we will see next week when it is in the car.
Motor is going back in Monday and they are mounting the turbo later in the week.

Last year the car made 1132rwhp. We have a video floating around somewhere where a passenger sat in for a pass... I think I went 9.32@156 with the passenger in the car videotaping. I will have to see if I can find it.
