GMM and Billet are the most popular. Check out ls1 gto and look for a guy named proxes. He alters MGW shifters and sells them cheaper than you can get either of the ones I listed.

GMM Street version. Much better than the stock shifter.

I had a B and M for less then 5000 miles, it broke when i shifted into neutral. Went back to stock after that.

I still have no idea how i was just driving along and that it decided to brake when i put it in neatral to coast to a stop.

Nice man, congrats.

I'm still on the stocker and hate it with a passion.

Had a Billet Pro on my old GTO. Hands down the best shifter. Not cheap though

Way better then a B and M.

ANother stupid problem was that it would often make my 3 to 4 upshift into a 3 to 2 downshift. I have absolutely nothing good to say about it.

I was like you but got a Lou's Short Stick(LSS) Easy replacement of the stock handle and made a WORLD of difference. Best cheap mod I did that made driving
the car more fun. Install was a 20 min. job.
In short if you don't want to spend the $$ on a good shifter, just get the LSS. It does make a difference, shorter throw and seems a little more firm going into gears.

Hey i was looking at your mods list and i have a quick question, you dont have headers?

Seems like with a cam that size you are leaving a good chunk of power on the table IMO.

Its weird, the shifter position on mine feels like its over too far..1st feels like 3rd..Should be more to the left..Anyone else with GMM have that feeling?

Might have to check that out. Got a link?

Biggest pet peeve is, it feels soft going into gears like you said. Also the looooong throws.

I had the B&M and later traded it for a GMM Race.
My B&M functioned ok, but I was getting leaks from underneath the shifter.
So far my GMM Race has been a great shifter for the GTO. Very well made.
People also really seem to like the new MGW-P shifter as well.
