Default PRC 5.3/ Torquer 2 results.

***UPDATE***NEW TIMES POST 28

***ANOTHER NEW BEST...POST 56***

***UPDATE***GETTING IT DONE...POST 85***

First time out with the newly installed package. 99 SS full weight (3660# raceweight) on street tires. The car also has 3.42 gears.

First impression is that this cam has no low end torque, it needs gears badly. My car felt alot stronger out the gate with just bolt-ons. Once I get the 4.10s back in we'll see what kind of difference they will make.

What is alarming is how hard it pulls once it gets into its power band. It took a lot more rpm and clutch slippage than I'm accustomed to to get this car moving. The gear should cure that...hopefully. My quickest pass was also the pass I missed 4th gear...badly. I'll post up my next quickest pass.

60'...2.08
330..5.436
1/8...8.070 @ 94.20
1k....10.306
1/4...12.200 @ 120.23

On the pass with the blown shift it ran a 12.19 @ 116. This pass was .13 quicker through the 1/8 so it may have been an 12.07 or 08.

Got 1 pass on video.

Wow... you need a rear with some good tires and a steeper gear and she will fly! I know you can drive... I've seen your vids of going bottom 12's on street tires and bolt-ons!

Hey thanks for the compliment. One of the goals was to run 11s on street tires. That mph should get me there, I just need a 1.8 60'.

Nice to see someone taking their combo out to the track for a change. The gears should help big time, then street tire launches are going to be even tougher. I'm curious how well this combo will run with a sticky tire? Good luck with your car!

nice. we didnt have much luck today at mir, horrible air, horrible traction. it went 12.75 but it was jus too hot and the track too slick today to get more out of the SS. good runs man, get that traction issue down and ull be gtg.

I enjoy running at the track and it's been a while since I've changed anything on the car. I feel good about having something new to race with. I really think I'll be able to reach my goal of 11s on street tires with this combo. I may not be able to launch it at 5k, probably where this cam needs to be launched, but I'm sure 1.8 60' shouldn't be a problem on street tires with gears.

Good run...u def have enuff mph to get 11's...

All you have is 340ish rwhp? That dyno must be way off!

I ran 11.8 first time ever at the track on street tires...hoping for 11.5's now that the rev limiter/shift points are fixed!

The numbers in the sig are with boltons only. I don't have any dyno numbers yet for the new setup.

You got your 120 mph Dave, good job considering the weather conditions. You should have no problem meeting your 11 second, 120 mph street tire goal. Congrats.

Thanks Bruce. As I make individual changes to the setup, the car will be making trips to the track and results will be posted. Gotta luv real world testing...especially in the hot summer months.

Just a quick update. I had the car dynoed and the final # was 413 rwhp. I couldn't get a torque figure for some reason. I guess the numbers back up the mph but I was kinda hoping for more. This dyno is supposedly very stingy but I'll live with these numbers.

the torquer II isnt really that torquey Ironically, but does pull fairly hard up top, it was what I had in my car with patriot stage 1's and went 10.95... It seems to like rpm too...

Those are impressive times for that package. It appears I'm severely down on power compared to you. What other mods did you have? Intake? What was your raceweight? I'm just curious to find out if my motor is just weak or is there more power to be found elsewhere in this combo?

Thanks Matt. I'm still working at it. Hopefully the gears help me out.

You need gears first. But, It was with a fast 92/92 3250 raceweight.

Went 11.36 @ 121 with an ls6 intake so youre right there with a good 1.5 60' Get a good rear (9 inch is best for a 6 spd) and gear it accordingly. Im running 4.56's now, and next year going to try 4.88's.

I dont think your motor is weak at all, pretty good mph, just need to optimise the rest of the setup, 3.42's are killing that cam. Oh, and get it tuned!!!! most important!

Thanks alot for the info. Your car is a strong runner. I'm not really trying to maximize the combo at the expense of drivability, but would like to get into the 11s on street tires in the summer.
