Ford switched to 4.6 motors....short of finding someone giving away a 03/04 cobra motor for dirt cheap....none of them are worth the swap. The new 5.0 could change that in about 5-10 years if its in "every day" cars like the LS_....but if its not, then it too will be an expensive swap compared to the LS_ option.
Its not rocket science....you get bad *** parts for the $ spent with the LS_ stuff. Its no secret GM has rocked ford in the motor department for the last 2 decades....so to me, the perfect combo is a mustang with a LSX powerplant

LM7 5.3L # 706 heads > E7TE heads, true enough, but to be fair, RHS 180cc iron heads for SBF are about 1/3 the $ of the RHS LS1 heads. 302 cranks seldom break, but the blocks,... Yes, the cost to build a SBF to equal a junkyard LQ4 with milled heads and a cam, the cost advantage is entirely in the LS' favor.
