personally I would upgrade the springs at the same time but if you're going to put on the rockers, why not put in a cam as well? if you're budget allows.

Stock studs are 3/8". Aftermarket studs are 7/16".

You should always change the springs when doing rockers. You're dangerously close to coil bind by using the stockers. Many people don't and say it's fine, but it's not a risk you should take.

My car came with 1.6's on it when I bought it...I didn't know the springs werent upgraded until last year when I dropped a valve...

new springs (around $30) are cheaper than replacing a cylinder head...I'll tell ya that right now.

Get the LT4 springs and retainers. They are dirt cheap ($35-$40) and are good to .525" lift.

I would not use the lt4 springs if I were you, granted they would be just fine for 1.6 rockers on stock cam/hotcam but if you are planning on running a larger cam in the future you would have to change the springs again. I would bite the bullet and get some decent springs now pac 1218 or comp 26918 is what I would run if purchasing a new set for a hyd roller

I can see your point but come one man, LT4 springs are soooo cheap, it's not like they are $200 or anything. When he decides to upgrade to a larger cam, he can sell his current cam with the LT4 springs.

Springs: $38.95

Retainers: $18.95

http://paceperformance.com/index.asp...&ProdID=248701

Keepers: $12.95

http://paceperformance.com/index.asp...D&ProdID=22770

Total is $70.85
