Default 1.6 roller rocker install

so im trying to find ways to get more power and im thinking about getting the 1.6 roller rockers 5/16 studs now can i just bolt these in without changing the springs or do i need to upgrade the springs at the same time, or is it just a direct bolt on

personally I would upgrade the springs at the same time but if you're going to put on the rockers, why not put in a cam as well? if you're budget allows.

the longterm goal is to cam it with new springs and port the heads as well, right now im just looking for something else to do to get some power cuz im getting bored lol

Stock studs are 3/8". Aftermarket studs are 7/16".

You should always change the springs when doing rockers. You're dangerously close to coil bind by using the stockers. Many people don't and say it's fine, but it's not a risk you should take.

My car came with 1.6's on it when I bought it...I didn't know the springs werent upgraded until last year when I dropped a valve...

new springs (around $30) are cheaper than replacing a cylinder head...I'll tell ya that right now.

Get the LT4 springs and retainers. They are dirt cheap ($35-$40) and are good to .525" lift.

I would not use the lt4 springs if I were you, granted they would be just fine for 1.6 rockers on stock cam/hotcam but if you are planning on running a larger cam in the future you would have to change the springs again. I would bite the bullet and get some decent springs now pac 1218 or comp 26918 is what I would run if purchasing a new set for a hyd roller

I can see your point but come one man, LT4 springs are soooo cheap, it's not like they are $200 or anything. When he decides to upgrade to a larger cam, he can sell his current cam with the LT4 springs.
