Default Pics of my 'new' '01SS...

I don't post here much...mostly 'absorb' info but I couldn't help to show off my ride a little. Hey, XSTA Z 28 - Remember me? I emailed you some time ago regarding your custom seats in your beautiful SS and briefly discussed plans for mine. Well here's a little preview of things to come!

It's been 12 months since I've purchased my '01SS from a dealer in Northern Michigan where I was certain it would die a slow painful death . Thanks to my wonderful and understanding wife, we bought it and began our 'restoration' - it only had 4000 miles on it at the time, but had spent a time or two down a dirt road and from what I could tell.... now brace yourselves....a DRIVE THRU CAR WASH once or twice.

We went to work on it almost immediately starting with the undercarriage (sorry no pics yet) where if it was bolted on...it was removed, cleaned or replaced. Certain it would never see rain again, I physically washed the complete undercarriage adding parts as I went along....Prothane bushing front and rear, 21mm rear sway, BMR pan hard and LCAs, sanding and PORing that rusted axle, eibach Pros and Bilsteins. Brake calipers were painted and decaled (chrome decal BTW) by yours truly investing approximately 5 hours of sanding, priming, and painting...PER caliper! Did it pay off? I was recently asked who powder coated them. Yep, paid off.

Once the undercarriage was 'satisfactory' (I always leave a little room for improvement's later, after all, this is a hobby, right?), we went to work on the engine. Again, removing, replacing, cleaning and leaving most in stock form for now, until a 'theme' begins to evolve as you may notice by the carbon fiber/red/chrome/polished aluminum thing I've started. Lots of ideas I have not implemented yet though...stay tuned. Steve, Andy, Todd, I've been taking notes...

Wheels and tires...polished Simmons FR18s (18x9.5 and 18x10.5) wrapped in Toyo T1-S rubber (AWESOME traction BTW and very reasonable) 275 35/18 up front and 295 35/18 in the rear.

Finally, I decided we needed a little more power. So, after several months of research, I chose to contract Mr. Lingenfelter to do a H/C package for me (us). While it was there it was also fitted with their 3.5" d.shaft, Corsa exhaust w/premium tips and new ZO6 clutch. Result...450hp/410ft lb of torque through stock manifolds and cats (still fighting w/emissions ). Not too bad....for now. Again, always leaving a little room for improvement...

Sorry this was so long, just thought some of you that have BS'd with me on occasion would like to see and here about my 'new' '01SS .

Let me know what you think....

Thank you, sir. As I kind of mentioned earlier, you guys are the measuring sticks in which all tricked out LS1s are measured. Keep it comin' .
For now I'm pleased...I've got some winter project ideas in mind. I am also looking for Mark IXZD 150 to hopefully help me out on a couple ideas I have...he must be pretty busy, sent an email a week or two ago and no reply . Mark....?

Great SS. It seems more people here have SSs than Z28s. Are those chrome Simmons wheels?

I got the idea when I saw them on...of all things...a black mustang. They looked good, then I figured, hey, they would probably look better on an SS . Or a Z .

BTW, thanks to everyone for their compliments .

I saw your posts on LS1.com, you were saying something around 380 RWHP right? Good looking car and excellent choice on the h/c package. What kind of frc's are those? Did they install easily?
Job well done!

Car runs really good. Strong and smoooooth...almost a sleeper until you stand on it. Then its like I just opened the gates of HELL! There was quite a dispute over there regarding what most consider a 'low' rwhp # (as you may have read) for a H/C car. But there's more than one way to get the job done and I think the guys over there a LPE have a pretty good idea how to do just that .

The FRCs are from f-body concepts. Fit and finish was (is) a little bit of an issue - still tweaking them. Install was pretty easy and trim nicely with a dremel. Passenger side is the one I'm having a problem with - damn thing won't stay down in the rear, so it appears 'tilted' . Small design issue I think I have resolved though .

Looks good, how does the car fell with 18's and the prokit? And does it look like theres room for 19's with the prokit? I am thinking about getting some new rims but not sure if I want 18's or 19's or if I have to put my 1LE springs in for 19's to fit?

Is there a website for those wheels? I think this is the first time I ever seen them. I have been trying to decide on rims but never found any I really liked but I think I found some!! Great looking car!

wicked ss - car feels really good with the 18s. firm but not rigid. 18, 19, 20 - won't matter as long as your overall rubber diameter doesn't exceed your 26" (25.7) you are currently rolling on .

jimmy00z28 - check out Group A in Arizona. talk to john or jeff. great guys to work with.
