it depends on your personal automotive knowledge. It is a pretty invlolved swap, especially if you do the ering harness yourself (i did)

Different strokes for different folks, I think for my application it's a great system and the customer service is really great also. Far as it being worth it, I can only speak from my experience. I wasn't willing to invest time or money in chip burning stuff to really get a great tune. I like this set up because it uses GM parts, modern readily available software and the end integration is like factory.

I don't hate the opti, so far as using LS based ignition wasn't my main reasoning it was tuning. Also, doing things like changing gears and correction the speedometer by using HPtuners instead of relying on some thing like a Dakota Digital box was a huge plus. A lot of my advantages are specific because I have a 93, I don't know what year your car is.

If I was a 94+ LT1, chances are I would have kept the stock PCM because I can have that tuned locally. How ever swapping to a 94+ PCM just didn't seem worth the trouble and hassle. Does a 94+ LT1 PCM work and is capable, sure, is it, I have seen stock LT1 PCM cars put down 700+rwhp. But is it as nice as the LS1 stuff, far as capabilties, software availible, tuning time, it doesn't old a candle to the Gen III/IV stuff.

Install, I say use as many stock parts where possible from a 96-97 LT1 to keep it simple. Engine harness was super easy to install. Every thing else is very similar to a cam swap.

I went with the system for the tuning options and the tables past 7000rpm. The opti has never gave me problems in any LT1 car I've owned

only issue with the lt1 comp/ignition is reving past 7k, and the opti isnt the best design. im putting down 670 thru a th400 and bout to crank it up atleast another 100 or 200. and im still on stock comp, stock opti. im runnin a 6al box and msd coil. no ignition problems! its all in the tuner, THE TUNE IS KEY!!! moe bailey is my tuner and if you have any lt1 computer/ignition related questions he is the man to talk to!
