Default Need help on tire selection

I ordered Torque thrust 2 17" X 9.5 " rims. I'm looking for some good tires that will hook up out back. I was told the nittos drs are good cause they last longer then other drag radials. I think thats what im looking for, Is it the nitto 555rs?

Also what size to go with i though i heard 315s would ift? i have stock 10 bolt and its going on to a lt1 trans am car. Where is the cheapest place to get them also?

I am kinda in the same boat. I need to know how to fit 315 on the back on a 17 inch x 9.5 if possible, or do I need to purchase a wider rim.

Wider wheels are recommended. Per Nitto's spec sheet, the approved rim width range for their 315/35-17 NT555R D/R is 10.5" to 12.5". When you pinch a tire on a wheel that is too narrow you force the tire to bulge up which not only makes the tire wear uneven and loose performance, but it also causes flex where it is not designed to do so. The flexing generates and stores additional heat which breaks the tire down faster and can lead to failure. It's important to remember that a tires internal construction is all held together by the tires beads and that mounting a tire on an unapproved rim width set by the manufacturer will void the warranty.

Tire size 275/40-17 is approved for your application and maybe a better option to look into. As for a long lasting D/R that performs well on the street, the NT555R D/R is an excellent choice. You should also consider having your next pair of D/R heat cycled. Heat Cycling will add life to the tires and help with consistent passes. Here's a link with more details:

Heat Cycling

A drag radial will certainly hook better than a dedicated summer tire. It all depends on your driving skills, air pressure, and performance mods.
