Default aftermarket SS hood fit

I'm sure many people have done this, but I wanted to ask around about an issue I am concerned with. Aftermarket SS hoods (rksport, trufiber, etc.) - their websites sometimes say something about being made to fit with factory airlids - that aftermarket airlids raise up too high. Can an aftermarket SS hood fit on a camaro with an SLP airlid? I don't want to get a hood and not get it to fit due to an airlid. I am not inclined to get a factory airlid put back on. Just trying to get an idea of what fits best.

What they are saying is that it is a factory fit (yeah right). Meaning all factory hardware and air boxs will work. Your slp lid will be fine. Be prepared to do some work. I have yet to have a aftermarket hood come into the shop that could just be scuffed and painted and look right. You will also have to spend some time getting your gaps correct

That's cool. True, I expect to have to do some fitment work to get gaps right. I see a big gap between the front of the hood and the front clip many times. I would not be happy with that. Thanks, though.

I'm not sure I understand exactly what you mean by changing the angle of the radiator to give more clearance for the airlid.

That's not good. My SLP lid hits my factory Z28 hood. I'm starting to think it is not worth it.

If you get a quality aftermarket you will be fine. The cheaper you go the more likly you are to have problems. All aftermarket hoods are going to need some preping, body work and maybe more.
