Default What clutch???

I have an 02 TA with AFR 205s and a TM cam. the car still has the original clutch and isnt holding so well at high rpms clutch pedal is also sticking. i wanted to know which clutch have you all used that has good DD habits and will hit the track every now and then. LS7, textralia oz700, center force, ram ???? your guys input would really help in the purchase of a new clutch for my 02

I have about 400 miles on my monster stage 3 and in my opinion it has wonderful street manners. I'm to using my car for the same application you are. The only other clutch i would have considered would have been the oz700. A buddy has a LS7 and he told me to steer clear of it if you like banging the gears. Just seems like Monster and Textralia have the best wear for big clutch dumps and racing all the time...

I would also recommend a Monster Level 3. Give me a call at the shop and we can go over your options and answer any questions you might have.

I've got about 20,000 miles on my Tex and she's still doing great. Drove it for two years in Kansas City traffic - it's not a light clutch and I learned really quick how to do the whole on/off thing in traffic rather than slipping it - and it still grabs as hard as it did when it came out of the box. Sorta expensive, and it doesn't seem like a lot of people are talking about them now (they were top dog when I got mine about 4 years ago), but I love it and I'd buy another without any qualms.

Ram, Let us know what kind of torque you are planning to make as this will greatly affect the clutch recommendation. Are you planning to add more mods in the future? If so, how far are you planning to go. You might as well install a clutch that will meet your needs long term. Let me know if you have any further questions. Thanks!

i belive the dyno sheet read 415 dont exactly remember but give or take 15tq. Like i said i want one that will be a good dd clutch and not give me a gimppy leg because i am working out one leg more than the other. i still want the clutch to be able to handle a good launch every now and then with some MT.

MONSTER OR STFU!!!

Monster Stage 3 here! Cam Only Iv put 424/370 down, Iv put a few thousand miles on it. Takes the 7000 Side Step and sticks!!! Iv cut low 1.6 60fts out of a full weight cam only car.(and still getting better every track pass) Then I drive it home! Stop and go traffic, no worries, My little sister and my g/f both can drive it and they both down weigh much over 100lbs! My leg doesnt get tired..even with 4:56s gears! If I didnt have slicks Id drive it everyday! As soon as I get some DRs on it, it will be my daily for a while!! Had Spec..Burnt it up in no time, buddys hate them and have all kinds of issue with Spec. I tell EVERYONE to get a Monster when its time for them to need one! Great Customer service..youll regret not getting a Monster!

PUT A MONSTER IN YOUR CAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So, ~430lb.-ft at the wheels then. Ok, that gives us something to work with, and also means that you could technically get away with using something as basic as a Stage 1 clutch kit which is rated to 599lb.-ft at the crank.

Of course you can certainly go up from there dependent on what kind of feel and response you want relative to engagement. For instance, a Stage 1, 2 or even 2+ will have very progressive engagement and are easily suited for street use with an occasional trip to the track. I have provided a link below to our parts for the LS1 (see the second set of part numbers on the linked page) so you can take a look at the available options.

http://www.specclutch.com/cars/Chevy/Camaro/2002/Single

Also, remember that you will need to either resurface the stock flywheel (assuming that it hasn't been machined/over-machined before). Or you could opt for a new steel or aluminum flywheel, both of which we offer. Take a look and let me know if you have any further questions. Thanks!

Hey 223, if you have had an issue, or if your friend with a problem would like to contact me I would be more than happy to assist you. There are countless members of this forum that will attest to positive experiences with our products. Did you ever call and discuss your issue with us. Were you issued an RMA#? If so, let me know what it was so I can research your situation further. Thanks!

My issue was that I just smoked mine in no time, a buddy has called countless times as has the speed shop that put in it. Im the middle man here so Id like to stay out of what was going on with his. Mine did have a few miles on it before it went but I was just disappointed in how long it lasted! (2+ im pretty sure)

223, did you send me pics of the parts? Did you contact us for an RMA? I know its easier to just negate a part or a company...but contacting us might have made more since especially if you felt that you had an unjustified issue. Do you know what I mean?
