Torque converter efficiency will always be lower in the lower RPMs (rpm lower than the stall speed) as you increase the stall speed. That is why the converter is “loose”.

For a little extra you can upgrade to the multidisc (a brand new converter, not rebuilding yours). $225 to restall, and $375 to get new multidisc converter. I just sent mine in, and have to decide on which stall to get for the multidisc. From some board members and MTI, the new multidisc is a much better converter than the old single disc setup. I think it is worth the extra $150.00 to get a brand new one that is going to give a tenth or so and hold up better (to nitrous/abuse/power) than the older one.
