Default wow parts for the LT-1 are $$$$$

I just purchased my first LT-1 (95 Camaro) and thought id put in a new distributor, coil, harness, wires and plugs until I found out all of that was close to $1,000! (I went to my local GM dealership)

Damn, is there a cheaper way to get these parts? I may just end up changing the plugs and calling it a day.

Yes, there are many places where you can get an opti and everything else cheaper. Why would you get all of that stuff at the dealership?

Was this for just parts? or parts and labor? Dealerships seem to be the most expensive option typically. I would not doubt it costing that much at a dealership but...

You can find cheaper prices online for sure. Search around here and you will get all the advice you need probably more

Im not saying the dealership is the end all/be all. I went there for 2 reasons:

1- I am trying to help support a local dealership
2- It was a convenient stop today

Now that I got the sticker shock, I will be searching online tonight for cheaper prices.

Opti can be had for about $250ish, plugs for another $60 or less if you don't get platinum tip and wires I think are around $50. Coil I can't remember, I just ordered one, but it's slipped my mind. Can't be too expensive though.

just assuming you were going to buy them, and if you didn't well, you didn't pay dealer ship prices for them

Check out "Thepartspros" on ebay (make sure and get a GM/Delphi unit from them) or Chandler motorsports for their optispark. Both quality pieces, and at the best prices you'll find.

For plugs and wires, any local auto parts store will do. Also jegs and summit have a large array of parts and offer most everything available for plugs and wires. As stated above, you don't need to get fancy with the spark plugs.

hope this helps.

lt1 specific plug wires from jegs. they are jegs brand and are $40, and look good.

the dealerships in my area are the same way as yours.. they have like a 200% markup on everything, dont see how they stay in business.. i guess people are stupid enough to use them.

Some get 150k+ on the opti, I would stop at plugs and wires. I replaced my original wires last year and I still don't know why, maybe because they were 16 years old.
