Looking to buy a GTO....Few Questions..
I just test drove a 2005 GTO last night and all I can say is WOW. I have been looking for the perfect car that meets all my needs and this is it! I cant wait to get the ta sold to buy one!!
Every car has its downfalls and problems. Im wanting to know what kind of problems the GTOs have? What tends to break when you start adding more power? How does the rear end hold up? Problems with the transmission or engine? Im looking at the 6speed BTW. The most I would probably do to the car is is full bolt on and head and cam package. This car will be my primary daily driver but will see no winters. Just rain and shine.
Any help will be GREATLY appreciated!

You may want to consider going FI over head and cam, similiar money and much easier to drive if it will be your daily driver.
good call on the M6

I have an 06 with a 427 stroker in it. Car is a complete BLAST. I have 40k on mine and haven't had a single problem. I have completely stock drivetrain with the exception of a built tranny. I run 10s all day every day on all motor. Car does it effortlessly and comfortable. I've had the car for a little over 3 years now and don't have any intentions of selling.

Get some drag bags if you do burnouts, stubs are the weak link on an 05-06, 04 has a weaker drivetrain. You can get different size half shafts to reduce wheel hop as well, much more expensive but works much better as well compared to drag bags. Radius Rod bushings and strut top bushings fail early. Check the inside of the front tires for any wear, strut rub was a problem. Besides that get yourself a good shifter (MGW-P, GMM, or Billet Pro in that order) and have fun. Car is easy as hell to work on, can be expensive with all the aussie parts depending on what you do.

The biggest consistent issue you see with the GTO is suspension related. Almost everyone replaces some type of bushing and or struts early on in the ownership of the car. While it is not a "significant" issue, its something to be brought up. So...plan on replacing some bushings, that is really all. Everything else about the car is solid.
I would not trade mine for the world. I have owned F bodies and driven quite a few of the last 2 generations of Corvettes and I still cannot justify getting rid of mine. Its a perfect mix of power and comfort in my opinion and the price point cannot be beat. This car in stock form will run with some of the quicker Euro performance cars and can be bought under $20k used with under 40k miles. You just can't beat that.

But yes i was not even considering american cars but what you get for the money with the GTO is just amazing, especially how the prices plummetted on them.
