Swap is done and in the car (02 camaro LS1 - 1992 Nissan 240sx). Everything is finished up and we go to install the battery to start it and there's major sparking, so we know there's a problem somewhere. What's worse is that the starter just spins when you attach the positive wire (no key in the car, not trying to start it, just hooking up the battery). Doesn't seem to actually engage, just spins. Any ideas? Wiring was done by SIKKY, but we hooked up the starter/alternator (small circle at the top of the start was easy, positive left, neg right - this is the cable that is actually attached on the starter body so i dont even think it could reach the other side?). Follow it around and you have your battery terminals (neg with a chassis ground and positive with a red and black wire coming out of it) and follow it around to the driver side and you have both wires hooked up to the alternator. Any ideas? Thanks for any help on this!

First- is the starter good? second are you connecting the starter the right way? there's only 2 wires connected to the starter ing and batt

I would think the starter is good, I have no idea how to make sure of this. The pullout only had 49k miles so I wouldn't think it bad, but you never know. Instead of me telling you if I have it connected right or not... how should it be connected? there were only two wires available to use? I said I have it connected the way i do above, I don't know if its right or not. Sorry :\

Any ideas? If I had the wires backwards on the starter wouldn't it try to make the car start when apply power (just hooking up the battery) or would it just spin freely like its doing?

After talking with v8 nasty it seems that I have the wire double stacked on the alternator wrong. The red originally went to the fuse box on the camaro, that is non-existent now on that side. I will take some pics/videos if I can't get it figured out and post it up.

one wire goes to the solenoid and the other to the starter motor get a pic it will help a lot on what is happening

Make sure the big starter wire doesn't short on the small terminal.

Yeah so after checking it out, the wiring was indeed wrong. My buddy wired it up on the wrong side (actually had both wires on the right post). However; come to find out, the starter was shorted out from the inside. Instead of arcing badly and the starter spinning, fixing the wiring now made it arc badly and the starter actually engage. Took it to oreilly and it sounded like it was going to short out their whole machine. Everytime the wheel tried to engage it sent a huge amount of voltage through the machine. I've never seen that before. So new starter in the morning and the swap is done. Thanks for the help everyone and special thanks to Nastyv8 for taking time to go over starter/alternator drawings with me

Just to follow up, that indeed was the problem. Pos goes on the left, trigger (small circle) on the top, solenoid wire (already attached to the body) on the right. As soon as we hooked up the new starter we knew our problem was fixed as the arcing stopped. Alabama has another LS1 240 running around now
