Oil leak
2000 trans am with 139k miles on it
It is leaking from the bell housing so it could possibly be a leaky gasket from the oil pan or the rear main.
So my buddy and I are going to replace both cause we don't know where the leak is coming from, and what your guy's input on which rear seal and oil pan gasket works best? ALso RTV sealant around the pan gasket where the timing cover joins up was recommended? And last what other stuff we need to complete the job besides basic tools.
Thanks

It could be leaking from a couple other places, too, like a valve cover or the oil pressure sender. Pinpoint the leak before you just throw a fair bit of time and some bux at it.

And if it was leaking from the valve cover wouldn't I smell burning oil?

Update: Its leaking from the oil pan, earlier today I received a low oil light. Just changed oil 3 weeks after that so this is a BIG deal.
Whats the recommended Pan gasket and rear main?

Before I tore my LS1 down I thought my leaks were from the seals but they actually were coming from the oil pan and main cross bolts, seems after about 120k mi the oil pan seals are so hard from age they seep and then leak, give the engine a good cleaning and let the car sit over some news paper to give you an idea of where the leak is before you start, as far as gasket choice I like fel pro or GM and permatex or 3m high temp silicone sealant.
