Default Catch can or breather?

I am currently running a catch can from my valve cover to my pcv. i have aftermarket vavle covers so this is the only thing bleeding off pressure from my crank. My engine builder told me to just run a breather and block off the pcv on the intake. Any opions on this?

I have right now an ls6 valley cover w/ pcv running to the intake with a catch can in between and a line running from the passenger valve cover to the throttle body. This seems to be the recommended setup on this board..

breathers are not reccommended. the catch can helps get rid of harmful gasses that shorten engine life. breathers don't.

Why are breathers not recommended? What do you think about the Mike Norris catch can setup?
