Was it a custom drive shaft? Ford Racing one shortened?

no, i bought a drive shaft from a 95 explore for $17 at the junk yard. I took the shaft to wenko in van nuys and they shortened it, balanced it, and installed new front and rear u joints. i also bought my slip yoke from them. With yoke, labor and new u joints it was about $160 plus the $17 for the d/s

Where did you mount the pcm and the fuse box? What fuse box are you using?

That's a very nice budget build. You got the best of all worlds in that setup. I especially like the lope of the cam and the sound of the exhaust.

Whoa sweet build for that price! Never thought of picking up a blown up 4 banger or even a V6 SN95 to do this to...

edit: Begins looking at 99-04 "New Edge" V6s with blown motors to put a LSx into vs my 66,000 mile 1995 Cobra...

That's an awesome build. Simple, but it should be very effective. It would be pretty funny if the car had 327 badges on the fenders.

that;s the way to go. I was going to do the swap in my 95 cobra a couple of years ago but it just felt wrong. You can pick up a new edge with a blown motor or trans for a couple of grand, or less.

Lol couple grand, I'd try to find one that is for like under a grand if I was going for a 99 V6 with the only requirement being a rust free, straight unibody. I'd be busting it down completely anyway for all lightweight stuff so interior/motor/trans/rear/suspension etc... would not matter.

Plus the 302 in my Cobra is freshly rebuilt with less than 1,000 miles on it and makes over 300whp through a 3550 transmission so its nothing to sneeze at...

Thanks for the advice and great read/great swap. I'm guessing I could replicate this with a new edge for not really very much more than you did, granted a 4 banger fox you can get basically for free if you offer to tow it out of someone's driveway/yard for them and fox stuff is always cheaper than SN95 stuff.

I've got about the same into mine including the price of the car. I picked up a good running 01 v6 for $1500.Put in a 5.3L out of an 04 Avalanche.

nope, after i finished it up, it hit me, im not into drag racing. At all. So i tore it all apart again. I sold the tubular front end, front, rear susp. diff, and th400. I now have an 04 k member, stock arms, h&r springs, biltein struts, t56, 5 lug sn95 swap.......so its almost up and running again
