Default 275's up front?

Will putting 275's in the front put too much strain on an already 'whining' power steering pump? I have a set (4) of 275/40/17 that I can pick up for less than 2 of the tires would actually cost me retail, granted they are very slightly used, but I'm worried that they might put extra strain on the power steering pump causing it to crap out quicker. It doesn't whine constantly but it does a fair amount of the time. Currently I have the stock wheels with 245's all the way around on my 98 TA.

Thanks for the help

Wouldn't think it'll hurt it considering any 17" wheeled f-body had a 275 from the factory (correct me if I'm wrong but i'm pretty sure they did).

I think he is asking will the bigger tire put more strain on the PS pump and to go out quicker.

Yes this is exactly what I'm asking.

I doubt it'll make the PS pump go out any faster. Mine's been whining for the last 50k miles, even had 285s on the front for a while, but it's still going strong.

Mine came with 275's al around from the factory, as did any other WS6 to my knowledge. Never have heard a peep from the power steering pump. I don't see how this would decrease the life of your pump since this size was OEM.

I'm with these guys on that matter. Doubt it will make it go out any faster with that little of an increase in weight and sidewall.
