So yeah new to Austin, just moved here on the 1st. Kinda want to go out to a nice place to eat, but don't really know the area... Steak is good, Italian is good, Mexican is good.. Anyone have any ideas on places? I'm taking arm candy with so we will be sort of dressed up I guess you could say.. Distance really isn't a problem I live 71/35 area. Let me know what you guys got!

So i ended up going to The Oasis around 7:30 didn't even have to make reservations. Got to see the sunset around 8:10. I recommend this place to anyone i will be going again that's for sure. Parking wasn't bad at all either, they have a new parking garage with people on golf-carts pretty much taking you right to the front door, so its like valet without letting someone drive your car!

Welcome to town man.

My favorite mexican food is Texican Cafe, there is one at the south end of manchaca and one at lamar and ben white.

Also if you like bbq salt lick is just out in driftwood. I work there and I will NEVER get tired of our food which is saying a lot if youve ever worked in a restaurant.

There are some really great places to eat around here:

Thai:
Satay

Steak:
Houston's (I don't dig other places near as much) I order the cowboy ribeye

Italian:
Sienna

Mexican:
So many....Fonda San Miguel is pretty good.

All worth the drive/$$. I don't eat at places just because they're expensive although I've enjoyed many of the previously mentioned places, these are a few of my favorite, but less well known.

Oasis is nice, almost like a resort. Need to check out Salsa night on Sunday night.

Pluckers for wings. Still my favorite wing place. The fried pickles are excellent, too.

speaking of austin, where can i find some nice driving roads? it's really hilly here, so i assume there are some backroads where you can really open up the throttle and have some fun in the twistys and etc.

sorry to go off topic.

i was at pluckers tonight. it was good. just moved here too. for school

Pluckers is good too! Me and the boss go there all the time! Also, if you just want to see some *** and eat some wings/fried chicken at the same time, I recommend bikinis. Something similar to Hooters, except they all wear bikinis and short skirts

there some nice roads around austin area...1431 out to marble falls is pretty scenic...little runs down 2222 are fun as well...I lived just North of ATX in Round Rock, so I primarily bombed down the toll way when I had the need for speed....However you wanna make a dry run on the stretch before hand to make sure no DPS troopers are hiding out....
