LQ4 With 241 heads or 341's?
I am going cross-eyed trying to figure out which combo would work better.
What i have: Complete 05' LQ4 with stock aluminum 341 heads (40k miles) minus wiring harness and PCM
Also: Complete LS1 (harness included) with blown bottom end.
What I am doing: It is going into a 240sx, I want to use the LQ4 bottom end, so i will need to swap all the accesories, intake, TB, and use the LS wiring harness (Basically set it up like it is going into a F-Body), I am going to run a larger cam, springs, headers, Ls1 intake(i know i could upgrade the intake but i am trying to use the stuff i have) and a tune. looking for 400whp'ish
Confusion: Should i just put the cam,springs,Ls-1 intake, Ls1 wiring harness/PCM and other accompaning parts on the LQ4 and call it a day? OR
Or Should/Can I take the LQ4 Shortblock, Put the cleaned up 241 heads on? With springs cam and intake ect... Is it worth the trouble of pulling apart a low mileage running motor to put Ls1 heads on? Will i see more hp with the 241 heads( which i think raises compression)

Compression is your friend.
The stock lq4 heads only yield a 9.4:1 CR. The 241's will probably only get it up in the 9.8:1 area. stock for stock, I would trade the miniscule flow loss of the 241's for the bump in compression.
11:1>9.8:1>9.4:1
sometimes you just gotta work with what you've got

Thanks for the input Mighty Whitey! If I was to stick with the stock LQ4 317 heads and have them milled, would that be a feasible option? If so how far should I have them milled? Weighing my options.. I am (like most people counting pennies :-/) The Ls1 heads I have need to be completely cleaned and put together... It may cost me more to have them done than the 317 heads milled.
