strange idle issue??????
Ok my car has a weird thing goin on with the idle. First off after I get on it real hard(1/4 mile) the car just wants to idle at about 5300 rpm for a few seconds after I let off. It doesent do this everytime. But enough to be annoying. Second after I got my tune the car likes to idle at 2000 for a few seconds at stop lights driving around town. Does any body on here know what the hell is going on? Any help is apreciated thankyou

I did have an ses light about 2 months ago but the tuner said it was nothing significant and he deleted it he is a well respected tuner. I will check the connections. It seems like the throttle valve is sticking open or something??

Very possibly a sticky iac valve. It's the top plug on the drivers side of the throttle body. I would unplug it & take it out (2 screws, T20 torx) & clean the black plunger like end real good with some MAF or carb cleaner & replace it. Mine was real sticky & gunky & cleaning it took care of all my problems.
FYI, be careful if you do remove & clean it not to lose the o-ring.

I used to have a hanging idle, the whole 1700-2000 RPM issue, and when my tuner re-tuned my 408, he used a new feature. I'm not sure what the new feature is called, but when you're at or below 40 MPH, the engine falls to your set idle instead of hanging up around the normal 1200 range. I would usually have to get really slow, around 10 MPH or less before the engine falls back to idle before and now, anytime I am at 40 MPH or less, the idle doesn't hang, it falls right to 850. Something to look into, even if it has nothing to do with your condition.

my stuck/hanging idle issue ended up being a tps sensor that randomly wouldn't return to zero. sometimes is would stick at 8-14%. 95% of the time it worked fine. no ses light either
