Blingmaster > Meguire's Hot Rims

Blingmaster > Meguire's Hot Rims
So I finally found a pair of 15x7.5" old school slots for my car so I could ditch the 14x7 (ick) but they were ROUGH. Like been in storage since the 70s or 80s rough...
So I started hitting them with Meguires Hot Rims and scotchbrite pads by hand, started with red pads then gray. This eventually got me a clean but very rough scratched surface after several hours per wheel. I really don't think the polish was doing anything besides preventing aluminum dust. The results I was getting were the same as if I had put water on the pad.
So I mounted them up to drive home for the holiday...when I got home I wiped them down with a SOS pad to remove the **** *** Meguires.
Then I grabbed my bottle of Blingmaster and a slightly finer scotchbrite pad. After a couple seconds the spot I was working was already starting to shine. 15 minutes later the wheel looked night/day better.
So I grabbed an old sock, turned it inside out and went over them again...the blingmaster was leaving aluminum on the sock. Another 5 minutes each with the sock and these things look almost new.
I'll snap some pictures when I get off work...but I just wanted to share my amazement. I had heard so many good things about the Hot Rims I thought it was worth a shot...but Mothers aluminum/mag polish puts it to shame and Blingmaster or similar liquid polishes make it look down right stupid.
It seems like nothing more than scented wax, might be good for protecting but doesn't work worth a **** for polishing aluminum. It is just as bad as Eagle 1 Nano Wheel Polish which is half the price.

its been pissing and pouring rain here off and on since about 3 yesterday, I'll get some pics asap
but in the meantime I do have pics of the previous pair I used Blingmaster on...these are 14x8.5" Ford rears I found in a junkyard and decided to clean up to try to sell
the left is how they both looked, the right is after a gray scotchbrite pad with Blingmaster and a sock with Blingmaster...about 30 minutes worth of polishing
these wheels were in much nicer shape than the new 15x7.5" fronts on my car now which is why I was suprised at my newest results, but this should give you guys some idea what the liquid metal polishes like Blingmaster and Green Magic (found at Dallas swapmeet) can do

never tried the mothers billet, it was more expensive than the regular alum/mag mother's polish
I did my first pair of 15x10 slots with mother's polish, and while the Mother's could get similar results, it took me MUCH MUCH longer and since it is so wax like I had to keep using degreaser to strip them down to metal or they just got hazey, it also left my fingers with black stains that didn't want to wash out
the liquid type polishes are near water like consistency and a couple drops is all it takes to do 1/4 of a wheel, even on terry cloth you can see a coat of aluminum on the fibers so turning often as you feel the surface get smooth under your fingers helps

I've used blingmaster and didn't like it. I didn't get good results with it. I thought it was like polishing with nothing at all. I used it on my TT2s. I love Mothers billet and have had great results. I've used a ton of different polishes and have always gone back to Mothers Billet

never tried the mother's billet, i didnt expect it to be much different than the regular mag polish they sell, which while it works it is a pain in the *** and leaves a waxy residue that needs to be removed before a final polish/protecting coat
rain stopped today I'll wipe the wheels down and try to get some good pics of the car/wheels
if you guys don't want your blingmaster I'd be happy to pay shipping for it, even though one bottle is clearly going to last a LOOONG time
