Default Cam Swap????

Ok so I'm doing a cam swap in my 04 gto and I need to know what size dowel rods to use. I've seen many different sizes used in doing this but I wanna know what the right size is to use and any other pointers would be great thanks for help

I have never even seen a cam swapped GTO. I heard of one but i dismissed it as a myth. Its rare to find these cars sporting anything BUT a stock cam.

Your better of turboing it.

A pic of the elusive GTO cam install. You can see the metal dowels sticking out. Think you can use flareless brake line.

You can use 1/4" diameter rods since that might be more common. As long as it fits into the hole and don't allow the lifters to drop, that's really all there is to it.

ok so i just picked my cam up yesterday with all my valvetrain except the rocker arms but the specs on the cam are...

Intake. 600 exhaust. 601

duration@ .50 intake. 228 exhaust. 232

lobe separation is 111.0

so im hoping that the rocker arms will be here by the end of this week and i can install the cam and everything next weekend and then go get it tuned

Just did mine with 1/4, seemed a bit small and had one lifter drop a bit, use 5/16

5/16 and grind a flat on one side, you will need some extra clearance on one rod to get it in (passenger side if I recall).

1/4 will not hold the lifters tight
