LS6 intake, yes. LS1 intake is a downgrade from the truck intake, TBs are same diameter for all LS1/LS6/4.8/5.3/6.0. Most convert to a car style intake for fitment in the swap vehicle

Plus it looks cooler! And you can tell people you have an ls1 and they won't know the difference!

If you dont need to remove it then keep the truck intake. It flows pretty darn good, it's just ugly as hell without the cover

The truck intake will help with low end torque and breathes better up to approximately 6000 (but don't quote me on that). And I'm with Pocket..

From GM, the truck intake on the LQ9 supports 350hp on a 6.0, the LS1 supports 350hp on a 5.7, the LS6 intake supports 400hp on a 5.7.
Your 5.3 is under 300hp. Unless you change cam & springs or heads, and exhaust, and really spin the engine fast, none will make much difference on your 5.3.
I only went to an LS1 for the low profile to fit under my hood.

Dont go by what stock for stock engines came equipped with. 5.3's show a VERY noticeable gain switching from a LS1 car intake/truck intake to a LS6 car intake

Thumbs down

Well If you look at the real Data. No, Its not worth the time and effort. You would be better suited to spend the money on a cam swap.
In stock forum Just swaping between the 2 intakes won't net much if at all.

Read this thread for some real data.

If I remember correctly You could gain a few HP at the very top end, but what you gain in hp you lose in torque. Also you have to consider How much time you plan on reving the motor to get that small peak of additional HP???

I agree with 1FastBrick the truck intake flows right with the Ls6.The test results I remember the LS6 was only better by 2hp at best and not over the complete curve ,just a sweet spot in the mid to upper rpm band.

Check out the cam specs on that dyno test. Hardly stock.
With the smaller displacement 5.3 and the stock cams duration and lift, I doubt there would be more than a couple hp difference.
