Some questions about doing an LSx/T56 Mustang...
edit - after a little more research... all that is really in the air is the following....
I will be road racing this car so a manual is a must have thing. What I want to know is, we plan on using a LSx T-56 but would like to know which bell housing can be used so we don't have to deal with using the internal slave cyl that tends to fail or give the car no pedal on LSx T-56s. I believe LT1 T-56s are external slave cyl... would the bell housing and slave setup from that work? if not... what do you recommend?
Thanks

Cant run the t56 from the cobra.... totally different setup.
Wiring I would use speartech and have them wire in the plug for the Fbody cluster to solve your gauges. Work perfect, fit good and OEM quality.
Search the forum - all of what you've asked is in here and with details/pictures.

The T56 casing is the same for all versions. The mid plate ans tail housing is what changes but the bolt pattern is identical save for one bolt. In fact there are GM features in the Ford mid plate casting. So you can mate the transmission to any bellhousing made for a T56. i.e. you can bolt a 03~04 Cobra trans to a LS1 aftermarket bellhousing which is what you see here. The Ford trans has one bolt just above the window for the fork. I decided to add metal to the bell housing in order to use that bolt. You can probably get away with not using it.
Ford trans mated to the Quicktime LS1 bellhousing with no modifications. Parts as received.
Close-up view. You can see a bolt hole for GM that will be eliminated once the window is cutout.
I then cut the window with a die grinder and a cut-off wheel, welded in the missing metal. Using a transfer punch I marked the missing hole. Drilled and tapped for M10x1.5 and re-mated the two.
Both in the car.
I am waiting for the LS1 clutch from Mcleod. Once I get it I can setup the geometry of the fork by using an adjustable pivot ball. I may find out the window is too small to get complete travel. In which case I will simply cut more out.
