fan relay help

fan relay help I had these wires rigged on my fuse box/relay so that when i turned the key on the fans turned on. was cleaning the wires and pulled them out be accident . no voltage meter to test can someone help ???

been running it like that for years never killed the battery. you think i would have rememberd how it was lol. dont really have 70 bucks right now for the switch. just trying not to overheat. thanks for the response . any ideas anyone else??

fan wires a toggle switch is only like $8 at carquest. Buy one and run it inside into your center console. That will allow you to turn your fan on and off so that its only running when you need it to. If you buy an inline fuse holder, you can prevent it from burning up too. this will also make your fan motor last a lot longer.

lol you have been running the fans on a circuit that was only ment to handle 1/10th of the load you have been using on it. Put a proper conection on it and wire the relay you pulled out of there to a keyed circuit and it wont cause a fire and it wont kill your ignition system. other wise you are putting a flamible sorce right next to your high pressure fule lines. not a good idea.

One of the wires is the ground which should be black in color the other colored wire would be your hot locate a fuse that is hot only when the car is running and hook the hot wire to this and hook the ground to a good ground.

Fan wire system is already grounded. Relays are to control hot power. The only ground in the 4 possible slots goes to the PCM as the pcm opens and closes the ground to control the relay and the fans. Correct way to do it is to run a hot lead to a relay then on to the fans hot lead in the box and use a switched power and seperate ground to activate the relay and turn the fans on and off with the key other wise you are double tapping a wire designed to only suport what was originally on it. Relay trigger voltage and amps are minimal. Those fans can draw up to 10 to 15 amps at start up. You will burn up the wire if it is not sized right for it's load. If I remember correct you can use resistors totalling .08ohms and plug that across the fan trigger circuit and fool the pcm so you dont get a CEL or plug the relay back in and tie into the fans hot lead under the fuse box. I ran like this for years and the pcm never knew the difference. No CEL I did all my wiring under the fuse box and then changed it back when I got my tune. Add a switch the gound of the relay trigger and then you can control it from where ever you put the switch.

I really get nervous tapping into my wiring since i am an idiot when it comes to electrical. can anyone just tell me what 2 ports haha. i will eventually get someone to put in a switch in. i wonder what someone would charge me to do it ??

Electrical isn't that hard your just like everyone else when they start messing with it. If you want I can grab a relay off my car tonight since I threw out my back and I will show you how to do it. I just need a better picture of your fuse box and the location discriptions under the box lid since I don't know if all years are the alike.
