actually the main problem is the bore is too short, pulls the piston out of the bottom of the bore too far.
My personal opinion is that it creates too short of a piston that doesn't stay stable in the bore, but there are guys that have used a 4.250 stroke in a 9.240 deck block with longer sleeves installed.

Need to run a smaller writ pin and custom piston and run a vacuum pump. But it would work in a race only motor. 438ci. You can go to a 4.125 stroke with custom pistons and smaller wrist pins and run a reliable 427ci.

Thanks for the info. I have an Iron Block that i am going to get a rotating assembly for. My other WS6 is already a 408. I was hoping to go bigger with this one since the parts pretty much all cost the same...maybe a 4.100 Stroke with a 4.040-4.060 bore ...should get me some noticeable gains over a basic 408CID
