LS seies engine/tranny source I've done some searching locally and online, but the prices seem to be all over the place. I'm thinking of doing a retro swap for a buddy in his 79 firebird. Anyone recommend a good source, online or otherwise, for a complete combo, or possibly a wrecked car?

We generally stock several LS based drivetrains all the time (as we also specialize in LSx based conversions/swaps).

I'm near St. Louis, MO. I have found some stuff near me on Craigslist, but it seems to go quick.(especially if the price is below 2000 for eng/trans pullout, which I have seen) Usually that is someone who has given up on the project and just wants it gone.

it really depends what your lookin to spend, and if you want a iron block or aluminum, or a six speed or auto.
I would recommend a ls1 out of a camaro they seem to work with most all applications.
ls2 out of a gto works great as well.
any iron block engine you will have to swap intake and accessories most likely
