Default ls3/t56 '89 IROC-Z

After months of debating whether to rebuild the old tpi, or to get the dream motor (a lsx motor). I figured well ill build a wicked 383TPI and have tons of toqure, but with the greatly popurlar ls swap (and growing, and the lack of rpm range of the tpi) ive been wanting this motor, just kept talking myself outta it because of the about of money required to do it. i wasnt really for sure what i was getting my self into. talking out the old tpi was not all that bad..
what im starting with

The motor is the LS3 rated @ 430hp 425tq.
this kit (o2 sensor, harness, ecu, cats, and other stuff to make it a smog legal ls3 in california) was $9300 and some change..but with a little research..i got summit to price match pace performance for $8195.95..so save me roughly around $1200.

as she sits at the moment..the oil pan will not work on the 82-92 camaros so i order pn#19212593. which sat to low so i put the original oil pan back on, and started to notch the k-member for clearance..also i will use the center dumps which i will make clearance for...input and suggestions welcome.

original ac car, was removed for swap..

working on a t56/m12

The first time you drive it, you'll be glad you went with the LS3 instead of the TPI.

Lookin good man, That motor and trany setup is going to be awesome in that car. Did you do anything else in the engine bay other than paint? I was thinking if I ever do my swap I was going to clean up the wires and misc hoses. When do you plan on having it done?

...You say this as if the girlfriend will be around longer than the car... J/K (mostly)

Looking good. I agree with LS1MCSS, you made the right choice on the engine.

I want to get either a LS3 and stroke it but still keep it very streetable or a LS7 with a mild cam and good heads. I would probably keep my tranny but would have to rebuild it to handle it. If it was a perfect world I would get the LS3/6l80-E combo, stroke it and have a nice engine and a 6 speed auto in it. But that would be a lot of money and not to mention cutting the car up. My girlfriend is already on my *** about my car, doesn't help that I spent nearly 5 grand on it this year with my rear end, clutch and support mods. lol

i second that on the girlfriend point
sounds like a badass setup

i think my dream set up would still be a 6 speed manual and a ls9 that comes in the vette zr1 and on the door decals where it says "iroc-z" i probably put iroc-zR1 something like that i think would be sick..

That would be cool to do a badge on like that. Do you have an idea on if you are going to put anything on it badge wise.

Nice. What do you plan on doing for exhaust? I'd recommend at least a single cutout and get a o2 bung welded on for a wideband if you haven't already.
