Heads were milled .004" and are back. Got all the tools and new GM MLS gaskets to replace the leaking/blown Cometic. So tomorrow the Thunder Racing RapTr goes in and fingers are crossed it idles decent enough on the 224/228 tune. Also in hopes we don't need to fly-cut the pistons but are ready if the clearance isn't there with the 2.055" intake valves. I will get an idle video tomorrow and post up the piston to valve numbers in case anyone may tackle a similar setup in the future. With it sealed and tuned I am hoping the RWHP numbers go from 400 to 430. That may get this sled real close to the 10's!

Update!!
Well I just phoned my friend who picked the heads up and we discussed tomorrow. The heads had to be milled .010". According to him the shop said that my head which leaked the instant we put the heads on of glycol had runout. So from jump I was losing some compression out the side and ultimately had the Cometic go. Don't know how much power I lost there but some.
** Note to anyone buying at least in this case... Patriots... check them before bolting on! All my problems could have been avoided with a check or a small cut from jump. I have never bought new heads before but figured just remove them from their boxes and bolt them on. This could be an isolated incident but I will never again!!! **

Stock head with stock gasket about .100" exhaust and .065" intake. So in a stock untouched motor should be fine. With my Patriots we got about .025"-.030" intake and exhaust. We are fly-cutting the piston .080". Makes you wonder how anyone stuffs a TRex without cutting!

Sometimes I get really frustrated with this car. So didn't finish. After the $125 in tools I spent last week add another $108 for a Lindy tool set I will use once. His cutter wouldn't do the job so another weekend wasted. Next weekend will be the third without making much progress.

Well after spending $200 on Lindy tools the .080" cut is done today. Now I have .090" on the intake and .100" on the exhaust.
Here is a picture of the notch. The Lindy tools are for sale or I will rent them... 2.055"/1.57".
Hopefully without any other issues tomorrow I will have it running and a couple of clips.

I really like it. Pulls like a beast up top. I don't have any videos of it cause every time I get a shot of it at idle, it never comes out good. I just had the stock cam in it before this one. I still have a lot to do with the set up so I can get the most out of it. (New converter and gears)

Here is the video of it right after the 224/228 cam install as a comparison.

So it idles really good on the 224/228 tune. I don't know if it was more my head gasket issue, bigger cam or maybe I'm using the heads better but it pulls harder. Mid and upstairs it pulls like a freight train. Hard to tell how much RWHP I gained but I bet it jumps from 400 to 430 now.
