Ls1 broke need advice
Hey there..
My LS1 decided to die on me at the wrong time. A conrod failure it seems from the sound its making. anyway my 4l60e had died on me too a week earlier.. so i decided to rebuild both. I just finished rebuilding my 4l60e, and was wondering what to do with my LS1. I was thinking, since its out, why dont upgrade with my little budget. So i need some advices on what upgrades and options do i have!..Boring my block is the last option im thinking of. Is there another block that fits the LS1 head.. like a 6.2 L92 ?? Or any other block other than the Ls1's.

Back to stock i would say any dealership or local parts store, but if you have a rod knock then i would suggest a rotating assembly from texas speed. Lq9 and 4 are dimensionally the same, just swap over your sensors, coils, etc.

If i could afford a rotating assembly at the moment, i wouldnt be posting here lol
I am in a financial crisis and just need to get the car running for now. I've been reading bout the Lq9 block, it is a good idea, but the extra weight is scaring me away. My car is already 1700kg . That is why i was thinking to rebuild to stock, and in a few month start with bolt ons.
what do you guys think ?

Well depending on how bad everything is inside the engine. You may be able to get the rods straightend out, the crank undercut, reuse the pistons with new rings and bearings, a very optimistic final price with parts and machine work will probably be around 1000 dollars. But i dont know the rates of machine work where you are.

Labor is not a problem for me! This mechanic is a friend he would do it for me almost for free coz he knws I'm passing thru a financial problem. I don't think the engine is too much screwed from the inside, because the moment the sound started I stopped the car. So I guess I just have to change a rod and bearings.. I will de assemble the engine, and post updates.
