Default how much can i have these milled?

Looking to see how much I can have a set of.untouched 5.3 heads with a cheaTR v3 or almost similar custom eps cam? And will it be beneficial if I had these heads get bowl work and 3 angle valve job? Thanks

That cam should have plenty of clearance, especially with the stock size valves. Head work can't hurt, and you are focusing on the right area. Just remember, you won't gain as much because of the smaller intake valve.

You should not need to take much off the head considering they start at 61cc. .012 to .015 should be enough to get 59cc's.

Fantastic. Thanks for the info. Also was doing a quick search and saw people taking the valves out of their 241's and swapping into the 706's. Any benefit with that or not really

I don't think the valves are all that expensive, but the machine work can be. I would consult a machinist or someone who knows the 5.3 heads well enough to know if the stock valve seats will accept the required machining to work with the larger 2.00 valves. If so, I would expect it would be much cheaper than new 2.05 valves, seats and labor to replace the seats.

I say find someone you are comfortable with for the work and see what they recommend. For what it's worth, I think the vast majority of 5.3 heads that were not just bolted on in stock form do run larger valves.

Or instead of swapping my valves out for those just be better to pick up some manley valves? Or be about the same outcome?

slightly off topic but are you sending your heads somewhere local or to a sponser here on tech?

Due to the budget nature of the stock valves, I am thinking you could net some performance gains with the Pro-Flo style valves in place. At $130 - $140 for a set of 8 from a couple of sponsors here, it sounds like a good buy.

Still curious what you find out about the seats (whether or not they'll need to be replaced).
