Advice on getting better mileage?
I bought a 07 gp gxp about a year ago really like the car but was looking for advice on getting little better gas mileage out of her. I bought it stock and got like 23 but since then I did cai exhaust headers tune and a cutout. Drove to cincinatti and got 21 and I was babying it went between 65-72. I've started to debate taking dod off cause some people say they get better without. I run syntetic oil premium gas and have new plugs and my air pressure is good. Thanks for any advice.

With those mods sub-par gas mileage is probably unadvoidable. 21 highway mileage is pretty weak, I averaged about 26-27 on the highway with intake downpipe and tune. I'd get 24ish with some city driving thrown into the mix.

Yeah I do probably need to hand calculate it but I always did pre-mods and it was always damn close to the computer. Yeah I still like the car but I think I should be able to get 25 highway, city i dont care about really.

you want better gas mileage ... go slower ... i get my best mileage right around 58-60
but then again the speed limit is 55 around here and with traffic youre guaranteed to not have the room to go anything better than 65 ... with a tune, and cai you probably should have seen gains ... unless you cant keep your foot out of it now
man i really want a tune ...

My DIC was WAY off after my tune. Not sure if the TCM/ECM are linked up to the DIC but on an entire HWY trip of 335 miles it read 24.5 (this was me resetting it AS I got onto the Hwy ramp, and then the finish at the gas station I pulled into).
Then when I calculated by hand I got 27.1.....
My speed with the cruise on was 76 mph.
I should preface by saying my DIC was accurate before the tune, so not sure what's going on meow.

Consider yourselves lucky
I average between 10-13mpgs. Granted I do 90% of my driving in stop and go traffic. My commute to work is exactly 10 miles and it takes me about 35mins to get there. I do a lot of cruising though on the weekends where I can get 20-25 mpgs on I-95.

The more mods you do, the farther off the DIC will be. Tune even makes it worse.
From what I've heard, turning off DoD only improves city mielage. So, if you drive a lot in town or sit in traffic, you MAY see some benefit. However, turning it off kills your highway mileage. We drive about 1000 miles a week in our Impala SS, all highway. When I experimented with non-DoD tune, I immediate went from an average about 25 MPG in the highway to a tick over 22 MPG. I calculated this the old fashioned way, not off the DIC.

I had very similar results when I deactivated my AFM.
Went from 26-27 highway to 21-22mpg. But my overall average (75% city 25% highway) went way down from 17-18 to 13-14mpg.

I'm getting 27 with the cruise at 75-76 with a tune. At 65 I would sure hope I'm getting like 31.
And that was actual calculated HWY mpg's, not DIC.

Damn 31? I need to drive more HWY. I drive about 65% HWY and 35% CITY. I did see a best of 30 driving to Maryland had it on cruise at 65 but then killed the mileage by challenging a Gran Torino Sport and it would have been worth it if i would have won lol
