Machining Wheels to Increase Offset
I got some 18x9.5" C6 Zoh replicas to run some MT's but I didn't get the offset quite right and they are rubbing over bumps. They are +56 and I need more like +65. What I don't get is that even though 18x9.5" +65 is the stock C5 wheel, there are no C6 Z replicas with that offset. WTF?
A couple guys have suggested machining down the surface where it meets the hub. I have not measured the thinkness of the wheel where it bolts to the hub yet. It sounds crazy to me but wanted to see if anyone has heard of or done this and if so where to go.

I called Wheels America who referred me to Baker Blackie who will do them for $40 each. Says he can typically take 1/4-5/16" off the mounting pad depending on the wheel. I would like 9mm = .35". May be throwing good money after bad. We'll see.

im bringing this one back. i have some oem c6 zo6 wheels coming (19x12 rear). ive seen some people put these on fbodies and they look good...some look like they stick out too far.
i know the stock offset is 59 mm. which is roughly 8.3 inches back spacing.
my ws6 rims are 50mm offset...roughly 6.95 inches back spacing.
math says the ws6 rims stick out 2.05 inches from the axle, and the z06 wheels stick out 3.7 inches from the axle so im only going out 1.65 inches per side.
i think everyone can agree that it looks like the stock fbody wheels stick in too far.
guess im wondering what the verdict was here. if you machined the wheels...if it worked, if its safe, if others can do it... if i can machine 3-6mm (1/8-1/4 inch) off the inside of the wheels (more offset, tuck more) .

I have been wanting to do this for over a year... Place in d ville that fixes wheels quoted 150 each and I told them to go f themselves. Weldcraft told be 20 but there's the cost of shipping. I may have them do it anyway and make the c5z rims 10.5s at the same time... Where is this place that quoted you 40 each? I'm tired of lifting my car to put my drag radials on it. I won't be putting them back on if I can't tuck the tires. Lol. It looks retarded raked like a 70s camaro and handles aweful.

I've been told in the past that you can machine about 3-5mm off the hub mounting pad to increase the offset. It really all depends on the wheel and how thick the pad is. If you've actually taken it to someone and they've said they can do it and will warranty the wheel if the pad cracks, do it.

Ulakovic22- got any more info on if it can be doe or not.
Im thinking most places I take it to will so it. But probably won't guarantee it. Or replace the wheel if it was to break.
