Default Should I buy this Mustang gt - HELP

Hi guys - Ive been a long time member and owned a few TA's and currently a TBSS. A friend of mine has a 1996 dark green mustang GT, 5 speed 117k on the clock, full exhaust, CAI, interior is mint, and asked me if i wanted to buy it. It has a new clutch and the motor sounds good, tranny shifts good, etc. It needs 4 new tires. I have some concerns about the body. There are 2 small spots that have rust starting. One is on the edge of the door panel and the other is on the front left fender where the door meets the fender. The part on the door is just along the edge, an inch long, and the one on the fender is a half inch. The rest of the body is straight, 3 small door dings. He originally said 2500, and today he said 2000 cash. I think he needs the dough. Is this car worth buying? The thing sounds mean, and I know its only a couple hundred HP, but would be a fun little project. I need your thoughts to either go fot it, or stay away. Its the 4.6, not the 5.0. Sorry, this is probably the wrong forum.

Thanks a lot.

if your sure hes not selling you something thats gonna break as soon as he sells it to you why not, if it makes you happy, who cares about make and model?

Im not worried bout make and model, I love all muscle cars. I am concerned about the rust - is it worth it with visible rust. Thanks for the reply.

First of all, why is this post in the introduction and greetings thread? Maybe try off topic next time.

Second, if you're worried about rust, and the car is starting to rust, then I'd say that your decision has been made.

A good deal isn't a good deal if you're buying a pile, regardless of whether or not he has come down significantly in price.

I know the allure of a really cheap ride like that, sounds good on the surface, but when you look at the big picture it ends up being pointless. Although I can see helping your friend out if he is financial trouble, fixing little things and selling it for a few bucks. You know better than any of us, because you see the thing up close, we are all just speculating.

I really don't see the point, in my opinion.

After looking at the vehicles in your sig, it's unlikely that this car will give you any thrills - even for two grand. Buy a motorcycle for that price and enjoy.

not a fan of the me too car so I would stick with a trans am. Also think the trans ams appearance is second to none. Not sure what it is like in MA, but in Jersey all you see is mustangs.
