I gotta make a trip that's about 700 miles rooms trip. Never drove thie car over 100 miles with nitto 555r s .. I run 25psi rear. Just want to know if I should air the up more or put streettires on...

uhhh... dont do it, you will regret it.

Is this a road trip? if so, do you have a separate set of tires or even a different car?

I think with all the rain/sleet/snow it's a BAD idea.

You'll be fine, just use common sense in the rain. I've made several long distance round trips on 555rs...

I have daily drove with 555r's. Just be causious and you will be fine.

I've driven 40-50k on different sets of 555r's. A few trips over 1200 miles. If you have enough tread, just take it real easy in the rain, other than that, they are completely fine. Wouldn't worry at all about it. If they are worn in, just pull over if there is standing water and grab some grub. Might bump them up to 28-30psi for a roadtrip.

i would bump them up to 40psi if you dont want to cut your fuel economy in half for a long road trip, for some reason my nittos hook better on 40psi then they do on 25psi

I ran 38-40psi on my old 555R's on one of my other cars on road trips, and aired down to 22-25psi when I wanted to play. I couldn't get them to hook for crap on 40psi, I spun through three gears on an N/A car.

About the only downfall is running a 315 rear in the rain, it can get squirrelly on you while driving, but other than that I've never had problems with them. My M/T's though, I have to drive 15mph if I get caught in a shower.

I did 780 miles on them in a GTO. El Paso to Houston. NEVER AGAIN!!!!!!!! The 11 hr trip took me 24 hrs. Any water at 40mph or more will send the car hydroplaning/fish tailing easily and these were brand new. I had to pull over and sleep in my car for about 6 hrs until the rain stopped.

Make sure there is no chance of rain for the trip.

On the 555R I have a hard time believing that.

On the NT05 or NT05R, I can DEFINITELY believe that.

i thought the NT05 was supposed to be better in the rain than the 555?
makes me wonder since ive been lookin hard at some NT05's

I am picking up a set of NT05r's and I will be driving from dfw to houston for texas 2k11. This year I hope there is no rain They car will also be loaded down with 3 passangers and luggage so there will be plenty of weight in the car. You should be alright on 555r's

I've been running 555r about the entire time I've owned my car. Once I did swap to bfgs but went back due to issues in the rain. I think the 555r suck for drag radials but have never had a single issue in the rain.

I put 5k daily driven miles on MT ET Street Radials with no incidents...just have to use common sense in incliment weather.

I drive 555rs. I avoid rain but I got caught in a typhoon once and the only problem I had was visability. The tires were never a problem in the water. They do throw a lot of rocks though
