I have a 2000 NHRA Formy and I get lots of looks at the track because it's one of those editions that everyone has heard of, but not many have actually seen in person. Good luck!

Well long story here, had a guy about to buy my car, and we agreed to meet up at my bank the next day so he could give them the cash, they give him the title etc. he doesnt show. So no biggie, at this point I wasn't too worried about finding a buyer, I go to the dealer and start working numbers with the trade in, well i owe right around 3500 on the car, and they were trying to give me 1300 for it, yeah, not happening, so I get the 1300 up to 2700 after long negotiating, and then we go to work some more figures, well after finding out how SHITTY (cannot emphasize the word enough) the dealer was by putting similar to the on the paper. (edit: havent seen the formula yet, confused myself over this post.)

Car price (t/a)............ 9100
Trade in allowance..................-2700
Amnt Owed on Trade in............+3553.73
Total financed........................12,653.73
plus fees,tax,title, bullshit

They were trying to give me nothing for my car and make it look like they were... 9100+3553.73=12,653.73....very sad and very very dishonest of them to try and take advantage of someone just because they think they are able to (I'm 19). Guess they thought I would trust their figures and not double check it, especially when the payments were well above what I had worked out in my mind. But hopefully something comes up that is just as nice, if not better, and hopefully I will be able to find a buyer for my car.

i've seen the ad for that formula it looks like a very nice car. that dealer was definitely trying to rip you off with the base trade in price.

Thats a shame. Sorry to hear that. You should write a review on them on Google or something!

Yes, I was kind of ok with it at first until the guy didn't even take a glance at the sheet I wrote up that would have been the correct way. I think he said "I won't trust your math due to your age for a moment, when was the last time you did some math other than adding tax to a video game?" That was kind of the last straw, then I mentioned my major etc. and he shut up pretty quickly, compared my sheet with his, and still tried telling me I was wrong. He offered to go get his manager and I told him it would not be necessary since I was leaving. Ended up recieving a call from his manager apologizing and offering for me to come back in, but I told him no, the car had a few unlisted issues along with a miss (no, it wasn't a cam.) Had some funky noise from the rear end too, almost like a bad bearing.

Car probably had the **** beat out of it and dropped onto the dealer.

Glad you walked away from that one. Honestly think you should keep an eye on the regional stuff. We've got F-bodies around here that don't last very long under the 10K mark.

I had a dealer pull a similarstunt on me. I was trying to trade my '88 GTA in on a '98 Formy back in '99. They had the car advertised for a certain price, told me they were giving me 2500 for the trade, but the numbers weren't adding up. Sat there for 2 hours with the sales guy trying to get them to add up.

Finally I got them to confess that the advertised price of the car was without trade in, if there was a trade involved I didn't get that price. So basically it worked out that they were only going to give me 500 bucks for the GTA.

I said forget it and left, and ended up getting 4800 for the GTA a few months later...and that was a discount to my brother, I had a kid offer me 5500 for it.

F'in dealers, bunch of scam artists. Trading in a car is just a PITA, it gives them too much room to F with the #'s and rip you off.

And as far as a NHRA car, it's only a few emblems (that look tacky IMO, I HATE extra emblems), so I wouldn't pay anything extra for one, it's not like it's a collectable like a CTA or 30th aniversary.

May not be as popular, but when you're the only NHRA car at an event, people tend to come and see you because they've never seen a NHRA Formula/TA in person. I've actually found my car in people's webshot pages from events I've been to.
