Default Convertor size for a Stock LT1 with a 373

What is a good convertor to put in a 93 Firebird with a 373. I was thinking either a 12 inch with a 2600 stall or a 10 inch with a 3000 to 3200. This is a street car that will see expressway use also. Thanks In Advance

My first mod was a ss3600, everything else was stock for over six months and I loved it. Everyone I know that had a 2800 or 3000 ended up wanting or needing more stall.

You will regret it if you go too small. A 4000 stall would be great if you don't plan on spraying. If you might get a nitrous kit down the line go with a 3600.

Remember, these transmissions have lockup so highway driving will be the same regardless of what size converter you get. So don't go too small!!

Check out some of the sponsors on here and what they offer. Both these companies make awesome converters.

SS3600.

Do not waste your money and time on a 12" converter.

Like eveyone else has stated dont go to small because you will regret it. I went from a 9.5" 3200 vig to having it restalled after finding out that the clutches where burnt up to a 3600 vig! Great street manners for sure after getting upto speeds, loL! Lots of fun, but still wishing I would have went with a 3800-4000 stall. All is good though!

but i assume u had enough rpm and didnt hit the limiter through the traps right? thats all i was worried about. i think 3.90's are the perfect gear for a bolt on car running 26" tires

Oh yea I defiantly didn't hit the rev limiter. I actually deleted all my EGR stuff. But if you wanted to keep it just buy the headers that have egr hook up on it. Only the race headers don't have egr or air stuff on them.

Thanks guys, I guess it is looking like I am leaning towards a 3600 stall. What company besides Precision.

I'm planning on going with a 3200 on mine with a 125 shot and boltons for this year. Maybe this fall I'll do the cam and rethink the stall. I'm staying with the 3.23 or maybe a 3.42 for now though.
